[SOLVED] ERROR - failed to start slapd

I do not know why I am getting this error "ERROR - failed to start slapd"
The service is not already running and I have no clue what logs I can check.
I am running FC5. This all worked when I installed Zimbra the first time but I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and I cannot get it to work now. Any help would be great.

I had to cut it off because it was to long. I cut off the active unix domain sockets

Okay.
I was thinking that perhaps you had another instance of ldap running.

Here are some tips that will help.
1) What's in the installation log? /tmp/ & /var/log/zimbra.log Especially look for any errors before starting ldap
2) What's your hosts file look like?
3) I noticed that you had uninstalled it. Did you use ./install.sh -u ? I think perhaps LDAP didn't stop when you uninstalled it. Trust me that I know from experence that you can delete a file while it's running. Just ask marc

Hmm apears it is complaning about a uknown user. It shows this in the zimbra.log.

Have you altered the main.cf file?

I would advise that you shut down all zimbra services and do a upgrade. That should fix the main.cf file.

PS- Just to make sure, I would check to make sure the ZCS services have stopped.
ps auxx |grep zimbra
kill any left over services.

Hmm I think I found the problem (Cannot assign requested address). How do I fix this?

I'm willing to bet that you have another MTA or pop3 server running.

"Cannot assign requested address" typically means its trying to bind to an ipaddress that is not local. Check to make sure the hostname correctly resolves to an ipaddress that is configured on the machine.

I dont know what services to look for. As far as I can tell nothing is running.
I dont know what to do now.
