Default Installation with existing ldap infrastructure

hello all,

we will maybe switch to zimbra(4k+ accounts), but we have some questions on how to integrate zimbra into our existing environment.

currently we do have a sun enterprise ldap server installation with multiplemaster which is running perfect for several years. additional we are syncing passwords and attributes between ldap and microsoft ad.

when we now install zimbra, is it possible to use the existing ldap infrastructure (sun/iplanet) for "everything" (configuration, gal, whatever zimbra needs..)? so we do not want a 3rd (open)ldap in our infrastructure.

is this setup supported?

thanks for this information

I kinda' think not - but once it is setup, I think you can have Zimbra use your external ldap for authentication/accounts at least.

Yes, but you can also automate it via scripts

No, you don't. Consider your ZCS environment as a collaboration system that just happens to have an internal (and practically transparent to you) ldap service inside. Which is what it is.

humm,

ya sure, but we have to develop our scripts. e.g.: student is getting alumni -> alumni -> employee. we have to keep track of the primary mail address and mailalternate adresses.

thanks for all your reponse!
