Question FC4 installation question

I am trying to install Zimbra 4.0 onto my FC4.
I am still beginner for FC4 as a result I read the installation manual and it said I have to disable Sendmail service with these command chkconfig sendmail off and service sendmail stop. Under what directory do I need to type these command in in order to disable the service?

This otta help you get started:

su root
service sendmail stop
su zimbra
zmcontrol start

Google how to disable services in linux. You'll learn a lot.

(PS you might want to make sure that LDAP is stopped too. If sendmail is installed, the ldap is probably running as well
su root
service slapd stop
)

Default Must be run by root user

Did you run commands by root user? I think the commands have to be run by root user.

Yes,
you have to run the service stop as root as indicated by the su root command.
Then you have to switch users to the zimbra user to run the zmcontrol start as indicated by the su zimbra command.

even if i type in su and then the password which means i am a super user now then i type in the command which still return command not found.

then i go to /etc/init.d/sendmail stop which will print 2 lines and say something like stoping sendmail [ok] ... this is process is shown in FC3 section in the quick installation guide (i install FC4 don't know why i need to follow FC3 process)
please correct me if i am not doing the right thing.

sorry i am beginner of linux system (learning stage)
can anyone explain a bit about the configure DNS section on page 9 in the quick installation guide. probably it is a good idea to give me some example.

Default Please try...

Did you run "su -" comannd when you became super user?
"su" command cannot give you the correct PATH to service command.

Anyway, please try the followings.

1. Login to your linux
2. Run "su -" command and enter password
3. Run "service sendmail stop" command and see how it works

About DNS configuration, umm, it hard to say examples... As you can see in other threads, there are may errors related with DNS config.

Could you try to understand how DNS works generally?
And are there any DNS servers which can solve the name of your server and MX record?

Good luck!

Search the forums for a thread titled "DNS in a nutshell" it will tell you what you need to know for a local DNS server.
