Default Multiple Mail Domains - Noob Q?

Hi Folks,

tried searching but couldn't seem to find the answer.

I've found reference to multiple mail domains in the forums and docs, but couldn't seem to find the answer to my specific question. If it's there and I missed it, sorry. Can you help pls?

I accept zimbra can be configured to receive mail for multiple domains, but can the community edition be set up to not only receive mail for those separate domains, but also have separate mailboxes for each domain. So I can have separate email accounts for each domain?

I don't want all mails from all domains to be sent to the one user mail box. I want to effectively have multiple users, preferably only one user id per user. but with different logins depending on which mailbox they're accessing.

E.g. I presently have set up 4 users and 4 different mail domains using just postfix/dovecot in maildir format. So each user's login for each separate mail account is;
user1@domain1.com,
user1@domain2.com,
user2@domain1.com,
user2@domain2.com,
etc.

And then each account sees only the mail for that account; likewise sending.

Is this a possibility with zimbra community edition pls?

You can create any number of domains, any number of users and each user can have any number of aliases from any of the domains and they can send email with any 'Persona' (that's the Zimbra feature for replying to email with a different identity).

Hello again Phoenix,

Whilst I accept your credentials as listed, I have just read the "features list" of both v6.0 & v7.0 and it appears to contradict your statement. According to the features list under "Domain Level Management" the following feature is NOT available in the community edition;

Multi-domain administration - Ability to create and manage multiple mail domains within a single ZCS instance

Can you clarify this for me please?

My answer to your original question is correct, you're confusing two different subjects. What you can't do in the OSS version is create a Domain Administrator (to manage only one specific domain), there is only one type of Administration account in the OSS version and that's the Global Administrator.
