Default [SOLVED] Zimbra 6 to 7 with perpetual license

I have a perpetual license with 6 and was wondering if I will be able to upgrade to 7? I setup a test box to test the migration and see you have to activate 7. I'm hesitant to try to activate because it is a test box, not production. I also have to migrate from 32bit to 64bit so this will be a process. I just want to make sure my work isn't in vain. So my game plan is:

1. Migrate my version 6 32 bit to version 6 64bit on test box
2. Migrate 6 64 bit to version 7 64bit on test box
3. If all goes well do the same on my production boxes

I just want to make sure as long as my license isn't expired that I will be able to activate my server. Is that the case?

My License says it will expire Fri May 30 3000 12:00:00 so I have a little time

Thank you for your help

Why are you hesitant to activate it? You're not limited to one activation and that, surely, would be a test. If you really are concerned that it might be a problem you should get in touch with your sales contact or support for a definitive answer.

Oh I was thinking I could only activate once. Is that not the case? Thank you for your help. I wouldn't mind have someone from Zimbra confirming that. Thanks again.

I've test installed a server several times with the same licence without problems.

Your best solution would be, as I mentioned above, to contact sales or support for a definitive statement.

I think perpetual license do not allow upgrade to major release i.e. 6.x to 7.x

Perpetual Licenses

Perpetual is a permanent software license for the major release version you are buying, plus any minor release updates to it (e.g. only 6.x.x).

...unless it's under a maintenance contract. Check with your Zimbra sales contact to be sure.

I have a perpetual license and upgraded fine from 6.x to 7.x, I was told as long as it's in maintenance I will always get every upgrade as they become available.

Been using Zimbra for going on 5 years now and have no intention of ever changing that.

I recently upgraded to 7.0 on a perpetual license as well with no issues. I do still have a support contract so it's no issues.

Scroll down to where it says "Support Packages" and it does indicate that as long as you are under support you get updates and upgrades.
