Default Installing withouth Internet connection

Is it possible to get the zimbra packages somewhere and burn them to disc?

Then when Zimbra looks for missing packages during installation it can get them from disc.

We are trying to restore a Backup to a copy of our live mail server for test purposes, so we don't want it to be on the network.

The only place to get Zimbra is from the main download page.

Which 'missing packages' are you talking about?

When I install Zimbra it connects to the internet to retreive other packages.

I never saw that behavior during one of my installations.
Maybe you mean Zimbra looks for MX records or other network related stuff.

I believe you're mistaken - Zimbra never does that, everything that Zimbra needs is in the binary that you download.

Must be a mistake then, apologies.

How would you propose going about installing it offline though.

Is the binary then sufficient after a clean install of Ubuntu?

No need for an apology.

Exactly the same as you would for any other installation. You will need to check that you have (obviously) the correct version of Zimbra and that your server is fully up-to-date and has all the pre-requisites installed. You will also need valid DNS A & MX records plus a correct hosts file, you can check the details for that in the Split DNS article.

It should be with the proviso that it needs to be up-to-date and have the prerequisites installed.
