Is that really necessary an sync tool to integrate AD with Zimbra?

Hi.

I'm trying to integrate AD and Zimbra.

Some people told me that I have two options:

1 - create the accounts manually in Zimbra with the same AD username;

2 - use an syncronization tool, that will run every time I need, to sync the usernames in AD with Zimbra.

Is that true? Still true?

I thought the integration was done using Samba + Winbind + libnss or anything like that.

Yes, for the moment that's still needed.

No, it's not - that has nothing to do with external authentication.
