Default New installation problems

This is my first post to the forum so hello everyone.

I am new to open source and honestly have spent all my time on microsoft products.

We are looking at Zimbra instead of exchange for the calendar features.

I have a ubuntu 8.04 box that I have loaded Zimbra on. My installation problems are as follows:

1. I don't have any icons for the admin console. I tried going to httpsmy ip address):7071 and it just gives me a can't find page screen. When I go to httpmy ip address) I get a blank screen with the words IT WORKS on it. Is this natural.

2. I tried zmcontrol status to see sevices running but i get the unable to determine enabled services from ldap. cache is out of date or doesn't exist error.

I can stop my zimbra services fine but they won't start again unless I reboot.

Maybe i've installed it wrong i'm not sure.

Thanks for any information.

That would indicate that you have a web server running, you need to stop it and disable it from starting at boot time.

That would be because you most likley haven't set-up a Split DNS and you need one if you're behind a NAT router or firewall.

You can always find out what the problem is by starting Zimbra then looking in the log files, a search of the forums is also useful as most of these types of questions have already been answered.
