Default Email Forwards missing when sent to an Alias

I have a user who is having emails forwarded to another email account. If the email is sent to the main account it works fine. If the email is sent to the alias then it is forwarded ok but the email is not in the main account.

I have searched the mailbox but for some reason it gets forwarded from the main account then disappears.

This only fails when the email is sent to the alias. If it is sent to the main account then it is in the mail box and gets forwarded.

Is this by design or am I missing a setting?

Brian

You should update your forum profile with the output of the following command (do not post the output in this thread):

Code:
zmcontrol -v

Who is doing the forwarding? Do you mean the email gets deleted from the recipient account or the sender? Is it the user or is the account set to forward the email, does it have any filters set-up that forward the email, are there any filters that remove email from the account? It's not clear from your description what, exactly, is happening.

I am doing the forwarding I'll show my example.

Main account in Zimbra is joes@somewhere.com he has an alias joe@somewhere.com. I forward mail from joes@somewhere.com to an external email address joes@somewhereelse.com a non Zimbra mail service.

If he gets an email to joes@somewhere.com it forwards to joes@somewhereelse.com it remains in his zimbra account.

If he gets an email to the alias joe@somewhere.com it forwards to joes@somewhereelse.com but does not appear in the joes@somewhere.com.

I am running version 6.0.9_GA_2686.Network Nov 15 2010

Are you saying that in this circumstance the email disappears from the Inbox?

The version information from the command needs to go in your forum profile, as I asked, so we don't have to keep asking which version you have installed.
I have set up the forwarding option from within Zimbra. You are correct the email dissapears from the inbox when sent from the alias and then automatically forward.

I will add the info to my profile.

Sorry, I'm still not clear what you mean. Do you: a) use the 'Forward' button in the web UI; b) use a Filter to forward mail? c) use the "Preferences/Mail/Receiving Mail/Forward a copy to:" option? Do you have the option to "Don't keep a local copy of messages" set when forward the message? Which of those are you using?

I use the preferences to forward the email. I have the check box cleared so that it will keep a local copy. Which it does if not sent to the alias.
