Default Installing Zimbra WebMail together with Atmail

Hi,

I am wondering if there is any possibility to install both together as the user base are small and I intend to have them both run on qmail/pop3.

Will there be any form of risk as well as complications?

Thanks

The Zimbra Web Ui is not a stand-alone application it's part of the Zimbra Collaboration Suite. If you mean can you install ZCS on the same server as Atmail then the answer is no. Both of those products are mail server that use port 25 so you couldn't use them on the same server, if I've misunderstood your question then please feel free to expand your explanation about what you're trying to achieve.

Hi,

Sorry, i am not a techie people. I am just wondering if we can have both applictions use the same port. The reason i asked is because the number of users that we intend to use for zimbra is small and it is on a different domain.

No, you can't do that for the reason I've stated. A mail server uses port 25 to receive mail, you can only have one application use one port at a time. Why are you trying to use two mail servers?

We are currently using atmail. But we intend to do a pilot test by running a small group of users for ZCS before we migrate them over completely. Hence I am wondering if we can share the server.

To run two mail server in the same domain you would need a Split Domain set-up that still has the restriction that you'd need two servers. If you don't have multiple servers then you could install a Zimbra instance in a VM but you would need plenty of RAM on the server for that scenario.
