I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck using BackupPC with Zimbra. I have about 1000 users across 17 domains and I'm not a huge fan of the scripts I have found to backup that data. The biggest problem I have with the scripts is the restoration. I had the server die about 6 months back and it was very difficult to get the data back. I think BackupPC looks pretty good and should make it simple to backup and restore but I wanted to get some input before I start testing..
I'm using 6.0.7_GA_2473.RHEL5_20100616214455 CentOS5 FOSS edition and use BackupPC to backup /opt/zimbra. The very first time I tried a successful restore.
Since this is the open source version, I can only do a full restore, not a restore on a single message or account base.
Which scripts were you using? This one is the one that is recommended by Zimbra, and is working great for us.
In addition to the nightly backup, we copy off the redo logs several times a day so we can get very recent backup if our server is to crash at any time throughout the day.
