Default [SOLVED] zmprov crashes

Hi all,

finally I managed to install my first test installation and started all services successfully.

But I cannot login into the admin page at port 7071. If I try to add an user with umprov, list admin accounts or reset the admin password, zmprov crashes with an error message [0].
I used to see such messages if a java programs crash while executing native methods.

What works wrong here? What can I do to get user management working?

Thanks a lot,
Clemente

Ouch - I should have checked memory before posting.
But first: Thanks for your reply.

The installation runs on a virtual machine - and while reading your reply, I remember to set memory to 384BM. I will try zmprov with more RAM this evening and post the result.

I found no out-of-memory related entry in any log file - is zimbra expected to give any specific error if ram runs out? Say an OutOfMemoryError or similar anywhere?

That is way below the required and recommended RAM for a Zimbra server.

I completely forgot to raise memory limit for the vm zimbra runs in - my fault.

I run the machine with 1,2 GB RAM now. I restarted the server and got the same error message from zmprov.
$(free) shows me 375MB free RAM and completely free swap space.

While starting the zimbra-server, I noticed that starting of "spell" failed (see [0]). I don't know if this is related to the zmprov issue.

What else could I do?

Starting spell...Failed.
Starting apache...httpd: Syntax error on line 232 of /opt/zimbra/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/zimbra/httpd/modules/libphp5.so into server: libaspell.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

it sounds like your install isn't complete. did you install zimbra with that little ram? it wouldn't surprise me if it choked on a few things and didn't install correctly. if this isn't a production server i'd recommend a reinstall

The installation is not productive, off course. It is solely for learning and evaluating purposes - and I finallly did my first learning. ;-)

I restarted at zero and installed zimbra on a fresh os, I did not forget to adjust the memory limit this time and everything works fine so far.

My stupid fault, sorry and thanks for all suggestions!
