Default zimbra installation error

Hello!!
My new employer wants to shift to zimbra and we have to develop a project management system with features like mail calendar etc. [zimbra features...] I feel the open source edition would be sufficient for now since ours is a small company!!

However I have several problems...

1) I downloaded zimbra for my ubuntu 64 bit edition 10.04 and the latest open source release... I'm familiar with linux shell scripting but whenever I install it says that

./util/utilfunc.sh: 223: Syntax error: Bad for loop variable

I checked that file but there isn't any error as such...

2) I'm building a cms based on drupal and I want to extend my drupal installation with zimbra ... Hence I want to know whether zimbra open source edition has php apis ... If yes where can I download it from... if no which other api's does it support ...

Please help since this project for us is a top priority and would probably be open source which will enhance drupal and zimbra integration!!

That is not, at the moment, a supported platform for Zimbra so I'd suggest you install Zimbra on one of the distributions that is supported.
