Default Web client used with non-Zimbra mail server?

I'm testing the open source version of Zimbra on an Ubuntu 8.04 system. What I need to know right now is:

Can the web client be used as a frontend for other mail systems, e.g. like Squirrelmail can be used against any IMAP server? We're currently running Kerio Connect as our mail server, but I'd like to show people how Zimbra looks without switching everything at once. Also, the Kerio web client has some specific limitations with respect to calendar functions that I think the Zimbra web client deals with better.

Unfortunately not as it is a completely integrated collaboration system. The only alternative would be to set up a external IMAP account, within Zimbra web client preferences, to talk to the other server.

You can run an internal trial by using aliases to duplicate some mail into zimbra. You could even use the 'Canonical Address' field to make sure the from address in the zimbra accounts matches the correct address.
