Default [SOLVED] restore to new server

Hello,

I hav a currently working mail system on ubuntu 6.06 32 bit zimbra 5.20
This system is becoming unstable.
Now I have a Ubuntu 8.04 on kvm that is ready (dns resolving) to become the new mailserver.

My questions are :
1. what are the steps to to this without losing data?
2. There is a problem with a backup file of 16 april 2010. Can I remove this manually?
3. Do I have to copy the entire /opt/zimbra/backup to the new server?

greets John

In the /opt/zimbra/backup I see 2 files that disturb me :
Code:
drwxr-x--- 4 zimbra zimbra 4096 2010-02-24 00:00 TO_DELETE-full-20100123.000009.330
drwxr-x--- 4 zimbra zimbra 4096 2010-04-28 00:01 TO_DELETE-full-20100327.000007.639
What does it mean? Do I have to manually remove these files?

greets
John

Hi jayel.

Server migration is covered in the wiki in a few places, you should have a look in there and see if anything helps.

The backup files the are prefixed with "TO_DELETE" have been renamed by someone with root access to your server, Zimbra wont do that itself. Are you the only admin of the system?

If your server is offline you should telephone support or log a high priority support case on the support portal.

Dirk,

thnx for your response.

But can I delete those files manually?
And other backup files?

Are all the backup files neccissary on the new server ?
Or can I just copy the latest full and de incimentals that follow?

John

hello,

It seems to be a difficult question !

But Do I have to copy everything from the old backup dir to the new backup dir of my new server?
Or can I just copy the last full backup and the incr. that follows to the new server to restore?

John
