Post [SOLVED] Installing version 6.0.6 on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS

Hi All, I have downloaded version 6.0.6 GA release (opens source edition) as a trial to run on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. My question is will it run on the desktop version of Ubuntu as a trial considering I am only going to connect 1 client via a hub. Do I need to run the Server edition of Ubuntu with no GUI or can you advise of a better release of Linux I can use?

Many thanks, DaveX

Welcome to the forums,

That shouldn't cause any problems with the operation of ZCS; whose installer with check for package requirements.

Server vs Desktop vs Alt Installer (LVM+) in Ubuntu really has to do with what features are enabled by default for the intended audience. Infact depending on version if you use the server cd with various configurations you might have to disable things like an extra mta, httpd, etc (the ZCS installer will let you know of any port conflicts). And you can always turn a server into a desktop by installing a x window system/gnome etc - or vice versa.
