When I configured my system I installed the imapproxy. Now its something I found that I don't need / want. I would like to uninstall/disable this.

That would be it. Without sounding too ignorant. How would I go about disabling the service?

That would depend on the version of linux you're using (there's usually a service management tool) but you can do a 'chkconfig' from a command prompt to list the services and then 'chkconfig servicename off' should stop it at boot time. To stop the running service you should be able to use /etc/init.d/servicename stop

Ok, I understand. We are running it under OS X. I just want to make sure the service stays off even after a reboot.
