I guess you realise that's an unsupported version (you may, or may not, get it working) of Ubuntu? Why don't you install the correct and supported version of Ubuntu, namely 10.04?

I realize that now ... Interestingly, the install.sh script complained with this message:
Quote:
WARNING: ZCS is currently only supported on Ubuntu Server 6.06 and 8.04 LTS.
You are attempting to install on Ubuntu 10.10 which may not work.
Since 10.4 is supported, this message should likely be changed -- but I digress.

I found some instructions for getting 10.10 to work here. Do you have any idea whether that will work or just cause more problems later on? Also, I would like to be able to put the message store on a different volume. The install.sh script is complaining that /opt does not have at least 5GB of free space. I'd like the packages to go in /opt, with the message store installed elsewhere. Is there any documentation on using the 'defaults' file? Is that where one would set this up? Thanks!

I have running for a month Zimbra Open Source on Ubuntu 10.04 Server x64 and on welcome screen I got

25 packages can be updated.
10 updates are security updates.

So.. should I do all updates or some of them?

That's a decision you must make, it's not a question for or about Zimbra it's a question about your operating system. Review the updates and see which, if any, you want to apply - if you do any of the updates make sure you take a backup first.

Default i have a fully functional zimbra install on 10.04 lts

follow this totorial and it works fine you need to install this package first for it ws missing apt-get install sqlite3. then follow this totorial Host Email and Calendars with Zimbra 6 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid). i hope it works for you as it worked for me. enjoy be sure to copy short cut for the 32 bit debian 5 package of zimbra. unless you are using 64 bit.
