After upgrade zmmailboxd is not running

Has anyone got any suggestions for this one? I'm tring to help him out, but can't find a single solution even after reading close to 50 different posts. I even went as far as upgrading to the lastest version of zimbra for him but still we seem to get "zmmailboxdctl is not running" This is all I can find that may be relevant from the zmmailboxd.out log:

I ran the following command: zmprov gs `zmhostname` | grep BindAddress
Results:
[] INFO: I/O exception (java.net.ConnectException) caught when processing request: Connection refused
[] INFO: Retrying request
ERROR: zclient.IO_ERROR (invoke Connection refused, server: localhost) (cause: java.net.ConnectException Connection refused)

One more note, mailbox.log is not updating at all so I am unable to get any info from it.

come on zimbra guys? no one knows what is going on? This company has near 2300 users and the talk tonight is to switch to to MS exchange

Same problem here. Upgrade from 5.0.11 to 6.0.6 got the same problem. I am trying to restore from backup.

Should I upgrade to 5.0.23 first? and then 5.0.23 to 6.0.6?
