Default zimbra freezes my centos

I have zimbra 6.0.5 installed on a virtual machine having Centos 5.3 on it. Initially it ran smoothly but after 2-3 weeks zimbra hangs my operating system and except for power removal no other option is left. This problem is caused by zimbra because as long as i do not start zimbra my machine works perfectly and after starting zimbra it freezes in 5 mins.
Also if i enable chkconfig for zimbra it causes problem in booting, on checking sequences of event i find the problem was caused by zimbra service.

Welcome to the forums

What Virtual technology are you using ? How much memory does the VM have ? How many CPUs are allocated to the VM ?

i have used xen- paravirtualization.
and have allocated 4 CPUs and 2 GB RAM.My Host machine is quad core and has 6 Gb of RAM on it to run this virtual machine quite efficiently.

I am having this exact same issue. Zimbra freezes the entire install.

I had mine on Citrix Xen and thinking it was a problem with XEN I moved it to Hyper-V and having the exact same issue.

Freezes the entire server..no ssh.

Here is what I can tell you on our servers.

I have 6 zimbra servers in production.

5 were 5.x installs that were upgraded to 6.x and have been running fine for years. One actually was a base 4.x install.

They all run Centos

The only one that's having this problem was a fresh 6.x install, I did find out yesterday that it's not a "freeze" or kernal panic..actually what's happening is the proc is hitting 100% to "zimbra" and it's so overwhelmed it can't answer or even answer on ssh.

Looks like you're using a 32-bit OS with xen, which has known xen-related problems. You'll need to use a 64-bit OS with xen.

See Bug 35533 – Xen Officially Supported by Zimbra.
