Default [SOLVED] What is convertd?

All it says is "if you want it, it goes on a mailstore", but not a clue as to what it does or why I would want it. There are hints around that it's some sort of attachment converter...

This is from the NE Admin Guide:

As each email arrives, the Zimbra server (convertd) extracts the text from the attachments to be indexed along with the mail body.
It allows searching of attachments, and searching of attachments is an NE feature.
