Default Zimbra Setup

Hello,

I work for a hospital whom internet access does not include any incoming mail relay.
So, actually, every user use an Outlook that was setup to directly send and get mails. As you understand, every Outlook client directly sends its mails to a SMTP server, and gets its mails directly from a POP3 server.

I just installed ZCS 6.0 OpenSource. How do I have to setup Zimbra to be abble to get everyones mails, and send outgoing mails ? Can Zimbra do that ?

Regards.

That is relaying mail through a server.

The answer to that question is yes, you can send and receive mail via Zimbra. You need to make sure that every user has Outlook configured to send their mail through the ZImbra server rather than the current SMTP server. I'd also advise you to get the Outlook users to use IMAP rather than POP3 for mail, their experience will be much more enjoyable.

If you want to fetch mail from an external server then you should search the forums for the word 'fetchmail', that will allow you to download the mail to your server for the users to collect. I'd suggest that you actually get the mail delivered to your Zimbra server and send mail directly from that rather than go through another server - unless there's some specific reason you want to do that.
