Zimbra domain name setup

Goodmorning to everyone.

I have 2 questions about Zimbra 1st is domain name setup on zimbra & 2nd about automatically startup services during boot.

i have allready installed the zimbra 5 on opensuse 11.2 and i have put this domain "mail.mydomain.gr" how can i put only "mydomain.gr"?
i want users have mail in this format "username@mydomain.gr
How can put zimbra auto start services during boot - restart etc.

I try this : "/sbin/chkconfig zimbra on" but during boot fail to start services in 3 level and manually start the services

For the first part, just make a new domain in the admin console and set that as default domain, you can leave the other one there. That will give you @domain.com addresses rather than @mail.domain.com ones.

As for autostarting the services on Suse, I've no idea, it's been a while since I used that distro and I remember it's startup to be a little odd even then.

From now i follow your instractions for new domain and i made new records on my dns and works fine, for startup i m keep search for.
Do you know how to setup for the first time a corect domain?

When you run the first install of Zimbra you're asked if you want to change the domain name, if you don't change it there it will use the FQDN of your server as the primary domain name.

yes i know what about you say but if you change your domain name then somethimes cant finish complete the setup and some another times finish ok but when you try to start services as zimbra user
zmcontrol start you appear a message and says you unable to start ldap and something like that sorry but i cant remember the message very well.

Do you know how to put zimbra services on boot?

That error would be because you don't have valid DNS A & MX records pointing to the Domain Name - they should point to your domain name (e.g. domain.com) not the FQDN of your server (e.g. mail.domain.com).

You do realise that openSUSE is an unsupported platform for installing Zimbra, don't you? I'd suggest that you install Zimbra on a supported distribution if you want a stable platform and good experience with Zimbra.

Yes i know about the support contranct but first i want to work and find the correct setup before i ll going to sale on custumers.
I found many problems on setup and i want to finish first.

I was worked with linux distros 5-6 years ago, then linux i think it was free "opensource" but now i think isnt yet.

Then I'd suggest you're not getting the benefit of installing Zimbra on a supported platform, using something like RHEL (or CentOS) would give you a better experience. Installing the required dependencies plus the valid hosts file & DNS A & MX records would get a copy of Zimbra installed in about 30 minutes.
