[SOLVED] Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender / no reverse dns mapping

Hello,

I have mail.example.com, all services running smoothly, I'm trying to send to an email but it return the following error:

Any suggestion about how do I add the reverse DNS?

Please note that example.com which is my domain is hosted US and from the Cpanel I updated the MX records...

You need to speak to your ISP or hosting provider, they will do that for you.

Thank you for you reply, I should call my ISP or my hosting provider! do you have any idea about what they should do? because I have access to the server Web Host Manager WHM

Yes they should provide you with a reverse DNS, this isn't normally something within the control of an end-user.

I've been called the ISP and they said there is nothing to do from their side, we should do this from the hosting side..

anyway my dns zones are list below, could you please check them if there is something wrong or I missed some one?

Those DNS records don't contain a reverse DNS pointer. I assume you can do this from whatever you sue to manage your DNS?

I'd suggest you read details of what a reverse DNS ptr is, to start have a look here:

Thank you for your advice, I add a 2 records into my side zone to be as below:
domain.com. NS ns1.lunarpages.com.
domain.com. NS ns2.lunarpages.com.
domain.com. A 216.227.214.3
domain.com. MX 0 mail.domain.com.
mail A xx.xx.xx.xx
xx.xx.xx.xx PTR mail.domain.com
mail MX mail.domain.com
mail A xx.xx.xx.xx
www CNAME domain.com.
ftp A 216.227.214.3

1. Is the above zones are correct
2. the rDNS should be added in the hosting company or in the ISP? if in the hosting I don't know why it didn't resolve the domain name that I pointed, although I have added since 7 hours.

So please your advice....

Hello,

I'm reviewing the configuration, and I noticed that there is something not logic, when I run the command the check the reverse DNS it goes automatically to zimbra server so whatever I changed in the cPanel and added records will not effect, (I'm not sure about this scenario)

So I just wanna ask about the PTR record, if it's should be registered in the ISP side or at my side in the bind9 of the zimbra server it self?

The reverse pointer record is nothing to do with your local Zimbra server or LAN DNS, it's a reverse pointer for your public IP address and (as I said earlier) it's something the ISP usually has to do.

snake_eyes, the rdns has to be setup by your domain hosting provider or specifically the one where your nameservers are pointing. By the setup you have given seems like 'lunarpages'.
