Default [SOLVED] fail to initialize ldap - zcs-net 6.03

Hello,

I try to install the last network edition on ubuntu 8.04. The install failed on the ldap initialization. I have read http://http://wiki.zimbra.com/index...._Install_Guide
but there is no information about ldap problem.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you search the forums you'll find this is most likely a DNS problem. If you are behind a NAT router (or firewall) you'll need a Split DNS set-up and a valid /etc/hosts file. You could also search the wiki for the word 'ubuntu' (or use the link you've posted above) and you'll find full details of what's needed.

Thank for your response.

It strange because my dns is in the same subnetwork, no hope need to join it :
Code:
root@zimbra:~# traceroute 10.2.44.43 (dns ip address)

traceroute to 10.2.44.43 (10.2.44.43), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1 10.2.44.43 (10.2.44.43) 0.542 ms 0.634 ms 0.736 ms
There is no problem to resolv the zimbra hostname

Code:
root@zimbra:~# host -t mx mydomain.com
mydomain.com mail is handled by 5 zimbra.mydomain.com.

root@zimbra:~# host -t a zimbra-1-por1.mydomain.com
zimbra.mydomain.com has address 10.2.44.219

Post the output of the following commands (run on the Zimbra server):

Code:
cat /etc/hosts
dig yourdomain.com any
dig yourdomain.com mx
host `hostname` <-- type that exact command with backticks not single quotes
