The Release Notes will list all of the potential "gotchas" that can catch you out. I would also search the forums here for upgrade issues not in the release notes that may catch you out. For example, SSL certificates seem to be one aea where manual intervention is sometimes required to complete the upgrade.

If this is your first upgrade, the process is essentially to do as many types of different backups as make you comfortable, and then run the installer which will walk you through the upgrade interactively.

Personally, although the installer will shut down Zimbra, I prefer to do a zmcontrol shutdown and check there are no zimbra processes running before I start the installer.

Hope that helps!

All the best,
Mark
