My install (Fedora 4, stock) hangs without starting services... seems to end with starting services, and, looking at Zimbra.log, stops at starting the LDAP module. Is it true that I have to DISABLE my firewall during install?
I had an earlier botched install, but read that mySQL should be stopped during install. I've done that, and am hung up here instead.
Just looked at my firewall logs... trying again with iptables disabled.
Yes the fire wall needs to be disabled(ipchains). We do use iptables to map ports so we will need that running.
More precisely - shut down your firewall, and run /opt/zimbra/bin/zmiptables -i as rootQuote:

If the install went badly, the db initialization probably failed. Try the install again, after disabling the firewall, and it should work.
Is there a sql script to configure the database outside of the installer? That seems to be my last roadblock. Can I use phpMyAdmin?

run (as zimbra user) mysql.server start, and post any errors you get - for some reason, the sql daemon is never starting.
