Default ldap address during installation

During the first configuration, the ldap server address is automatically set to my server's hostname (say, myzimbraserver.domain.com).
I created an alias ldap.domaine.com which is just a CNAME to myzimbraserver.domain.com, but this address is always rejected by the configuration script (cannot contact myzimbraserver.domain.com:389).
If checked the name server configuration and it looks good, nslookup tells me that ldap.domain.com is cname myzimbraserver.domain.com and the corresponding IP is my server's ip...

I went on with the installation without changing the ldap address, but is this normal behaviour ?

No firewall, nothing installed on this server but zimbra.
ldap.mydomain.com resolves to myserver.domain.com. myserver.domain.com works but not ldap.mydomain.com.
Do I need to add ldap.mydomain.com to my hosts file for this to work ?

Resolves via DNS or via /etc/hosts? Try testing like:

host `ldap.mydomain.com`
