Hi,

Stupid(?) question, but what convertd process does?

I couldn't find any proper information how it is used.

There is some settings eg. zimbraConvertdURL which points to server:7047

convertd is a Network Edition only feature that allows conversionto HTML (and indexing) for things like .doc, .pdf, and other files.
