Default Installation of new server

Good Morning,

I'm setting up a new zimbra server and migrating over my existing zimbra accounts to a new server.

I've been following the "Moving ZCS to Another Server" from the wiki. However when I get to the zmfixperms step I get the error.

Code:
[root@mailbox ~]# /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms
/opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
/opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml: line 1: `'
/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms: line 364: syntax error near unexpected token `('

And when I run the installer afterwards I get the error.

Code:
Verifying integrity of message store databases. This may take a while.
Error: assertion '-x /bin/mysqld_safe' failed
/opt/zimbra/bin/zmlocalconfig: line 53: /opt/zimbra/java/bin/java: cannot execute binary file
/opt/zimbra/bin/zmlocalconfig: line 53: /opt/zimbra/java/bin/java: Success
/opt/zimbra/mysql/bin/mysqlcheck: /opt/zimbra/mysql/bin/mysqlcheck: cannot execute binary file
No errors found
command failed
I'm running zimbra 5.0.16_GA_2921 on both servers, and the same OS on both, CentOS release 5.3 (Final)

Any suggestions on what might be causing this and how to resolve the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums

What do you have on line 1 from /opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml ? It should look something like
Code:
<\?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?\>
but without the backslashes.

I presume you performed a dummy install of ZCS and then how did you tranfer the backup file ?

Thats what I have on line1.

Code:
<\?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?\>
I ran the installer on the new box with the -s option. Then I rsynced the /opt/zimbra directory to an external hdd, and moved the ext hdd to another server and rsynced from the ext hdd on the third server to my new one as it was running on a vmware esxi 4.0 server and I couldn't plug the drive directly into it.

Hmmm, try the following
Code:
bash -x /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms
and see if it throws any error messages.
