Zimbra split dns setup on windows domain

I have a question about configuration of split dns with a local dns server. Do i need to install bind and configure it?

from what i understand I can create mydomain.com = 192.168.1.5 as long as I do that correctly in windows DNS server and point all dns entries from the zimbra box to the windows box im set?

Is that correct?

You can use any DNS server you like as long as the DNS records for your domain resolve correctly to the zimbra server.

Yes, that's correct for a Zimbra server behind a NAT router.
