Default Zimbra-Apache for other (private) web-sites

    Hello,

I am trying to use the zimbra-apache for my own homepages.... How is it possible to use the standard webroot directory to store other sites than the zimbra uses?

So, when I go to mydomain.com/ I want a "welcome-page" where I can store my stuff and give a link to the /zimbra/ folder to access the webmail... Do I really have to run an other apache with a different port for that or is it possible to share the zimbra-apache for my sites?

The normal Welcome-Pages of the apache are stored in the webroot folder, but those files were never called :-( What is the easiest way to solve my problem?

    Regards,
    Mario

Zimbra doesn't use apache it uses tomcat. You could use an instance of Apache on your system and use another port such as 8080, that's what I do. If you'd rather not do that you could leave Apache on port 80 and a redirect to something els for ZImbra, do a search of the forums it has been described a couple of times.

    Default Same Issue

I am having a similar issue.

Zimbra seems to be running instances of both tomcat and apache(for spell check).

Would it be reasonable to install another instance of Apache?

It *seems* like it should be possible to use the existing Apache server Zimbra has installed.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Welcome to the forums.

You can install another instance of apache but don't use any of the zimbra services for your own web sites, they will get overwritten on upgrades. As I mentioned earlier, search the forums as it's been covered a few times before.
