Default ZCS 6 - Upgrading Document templates...failed.
When upgrading from RC1 to Final every time this command will be displayed during install:

Upgrading Document templates...failed.

In the Log:
ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: java.lang.ClassCastException: [Ljava.lang.String; cannot be cast to java.lang.String)

Seems a very buggy update.

Therefore nothing exists in wiki, forums etc - So nothing is working and i have no chance to solve it .... anyone has an idea?


The only thing that is working is the admin overview and if i klick on a domain for editing, then the same will be dispayed

Any click on the COS in the Admin Console will display this message

This looks like Bug 40759 – Mailbox not accessible if folder is shared to a group with alises or a user with multiple zimbraMailDeliveryAddress which engineering is currently investigating.

Ok guys, a bug of this type should be a total release blocker. The workaround is impossibly involved for large installations. GA should really be put on hold until this bug is fixed before some poor soul upgrades an installation with 100's of aliased distribution lists.

Thats true - i had the luck, after failed upgrading from 6.0 RC1 to 6.0 GA a installation back to 6.0 RC1 worked fine.

If you upgrad from Relaese 5, then you can't go back to 5 and your mail system will completly down for some weeks...

Default Problems after upgrading 5.0.18 to 6.0.0 FOSS
Yesterday evening I upgraded from v5.0.18 GA FOSS to v.6.0.0 GA FOSS.

We're on a single Ubuntu 8.04 LTS 32-bit server that does nothing else but run Zimbra.

Following the upgrade, when Zimbra came back up again, mailbox was not running. After several fruitless attempts to follow suggestions from various forum postings, as a last desperate measure I tried regenerating our self-signed certificates, even though the existing certificates were not in danger of expiring. Wonders of wonders, everything came back up and the system is working.

Two problems:

1) During the upgrade, I noticed the following: "Upgrading Document templates...failed". Is this perhaps related to Bug 40759, which was mentioned in this context in another forum thread?

2) In the Admin console, under Monitoring | Server Statistics, the Message Count, Message Volume, Anti-Spam/Anti-Virus Activity and Disk panels display only "no data available". However, zmcontrol status reports that stats is running, and I have verified that /var/log/zimbra-stats.log is accumulating data and that syslog is running. (Perhaps related: At my first upgrade attempt I was informed that sysstat was MISSING, so I installed it and then the upgrade was able to proceed.)

Any suggestions how I should overcome these problems?

If you hit bug 40759, please do the workaround in comment #2. You run a greater risk of really trashing your installation with rollback. IMAP/POP3+CalDAV access is not affected by the bug.
