Default Zimbra on Debian4.0 Vserver problem...

Hi all,

I succeed to install (it seems) Zimbra on virtual machine (Vserver kernel: 2.6.18-6-vserver-amd64 #1 SMP) but the guest machine is a 32-Bit system. But I'm note sure that the documents was created in end of install..

I created a loopback interface "lo 127.0.0.1" it's working and respond to ping. And my machine soleil-4.arial-concept.com respond to ping as well when the virtual machine is started.

At launch time I got pstree:

Code:
init-+-amavisd---10*[amavisd]
     |-clamd---{clamd}
     |-cron
     |-freshclam
     |-httpd---5*[httpd]
     |-inetd
     |-logswatch---perl---zmlogger
     |-master-+-pickup
     | `-qmgr
     |-miniserv.pl
     |-2*[mysqld_safe---mysqld---9*[{mysqld}]]
     |-named---4*[{named}]
     |-saslauthd---4*[saslauthd]
     |-slapd---3*[{slapd}]
     |-swatch---perl
     |-syslogd
     |-xinetd
     |-zmmailboxdmgr---java---27*[{java}]
     |-zmmtaconfig
     |-zmstat-cpu
     |-zmstat-fd
     |-zmstat-mtaqueue
     |-zmstat-mysql
     |-zmstat-proc
     `-zmstat-vm
My Zimbra startup.log is :

Code:
Host soleil-4.arial.concept.com
        Starting ldap...Done.
        Starting logger...Done.
        Starting mailbox...Done.
        Starting antispam...Done.
        Starting antivirus...Done.
        Starting snmp...Done.
        Starting spell...Done.
        Starting mta...Done.
        Starting stats...Done.
What's wrong ?

Please help.

Sam.

You haven't actually said what the problem is that you're experiencing. Post the output of the following commands (run on the Zimbra server):

Code:
cat /etc/hosts
cat /etc/resolv.conf
dig yourdomain.com mx
dig yourdomain.com any
host `hostname` <-- use that exact command with backticks not single quotes
How much RAM does the Zimbra server have allocated to it?

BTW, you should look in the log files for any errors.

Hi Phenix,

I checked all that you said and I changed/created MX for my new domain/hostname zimbra.arial-concept.com and that's work now.

One thing again how to masquerade hostname to send mail as user@arial-concept.com instead of user@zimbra.arial-concept.com

Thanks a lot for your help.

Sam.

When you installed Zimbra you would have been asked if you wnated to change the domain name, if you don't do that it will default to the FQDN of your server. If this is a test server then the easies thing to do would be uninstall Zimbra with './install.sh -u' - that will remove everything including the /opt directory so if you have any mail you want to keep don't do that.

You could create a new domain as arial-concept.com and set it as the default then all new accounts will be created in that, you could even use zmprov to rename the domain:

Code:
  renameDomain(rd) {domain|id} {newDomain}
-- NOTE: renameDomain can only be used with "zmprov -l/--ldap"
Take your pick, they all work.

Big thanks Phenix for your help.

I'll read with more attentions the AdminGuide for all these points.

I'm thinking about the best choice to manage mails for 2 sites on the same domains named for example miami@arial-concept.com and boston@arial-concept.com to received mails to user@arial-concept.com format and a routing system to relay on the right Zimbra server from an external main mail server. Or use an only one Zimbra server on the remote main mail server to got only user@arial-concept.com format and each user connect on it to read/write mails with the Zimbra webmail or from mail client (Thunderbird, Outlook, etc) in IMAP.

I'm testing the remote Zimbra solution but the problem is for the mails with big attachments to load/send.

Thanks again for your nice help.

Sam.
