I would like to implement zimbra OS but i would put mail store to another drive. How to change drive path for mail store?

Welcome to the forums

Install ZCS and once that has completed shut it down and then move /opt/zimbra/store to the new drive and create a symlink.

Yes, you can add additional HSM volumes. It also depends on what the underlying storage you are using aswell. If iSCSI/FC then you could either 1) present a new LUN extend the volume group and lvol or 2) Increase the size of the current LUN and dynamically expand it.

I'm running it on CentoS 5 under ESX server. Let's say I add another virtual disk. It pops up as /dev/sdc, and I could format it with whatever file system. How would I make this available for mailbox storage?

If you are using LVM for the existing volume then just expand the VG with that disk and extend the filesystem.

- Add new vmware drive
- Format it in OS as path like /opt/zimbra/store2
- Make sure permission on it are same as /opt/zimbra/store
- Go to zimbra admin --> servers --> volumes --> add new
* check attached screenshot
- make the new volume as "current message volume"
* check attached screenshot
- you may have to restart zimbra services

* i have never tried this but technically it should work and all the new suff should happen on this new message volume and your old one should work just fine too.
* this is for OSS version..for NE there is HSM which handels this better

As raj said, but you do not need to restart services. All new mail for all users will start being delivered to store2 as soon as it is marked active. If your vmware infrastructure supports adding a disk and the guest can see it without reboting, then no downtime is necessary.

Eventually, store2 will fill up, at which point you can either add a store3 or make the original store, which should have some free space due to message/account deletion, active again.

index volumes are different... once an account is on a given volume, it stays there. The active flag on an index volume only determines where the index for a newly created account will go.

But the jist of it is that there can only be one active message volume and one active index volume, each pointed to by a single simple path. If you want to extend to multiple volumes, you have to use the logical volume manager. Key point.
