I hate to be guilty of the blindingly obvious, but the transcript you posted makes it look like your setup returned the wrong password in the session. Have you verified that the POP password you set is the one that works on that account?

OK I freely admit I'm reaching here, but let me understand what I think you're saying:
  1. fetchmail is working fine on your primary box, right? If so, what OS, version, fetchmail version?
  2. but it won't work on your backup box, save OS, version, fetchmail version?
  3. identical .fetchmailrc on both boxes?
Now I'm using a MUCH older version of fetchmail, because Ubuntu 6.06 LTS seems not to have upgraded beyond 6.3.2. So I can't totally test what you're looking at here. But I think clarifying these questions may be helpful.

alright...the primary box runs centos5/RHEL5, fetchmail 6.3.6 while the backup runs the same OS and version and i simply just copied .fetchmailrc on the primary to the backup with permissions inclusive....

I am suggesting a SSL authorization from my ISP...because i carefully compared the primary box to d backup and i completely replicated the whole thing////

the only difference now is that the bachup box has fetchmail version 6.3.10 and i only just did that after i started encountering this authorization errors.....thanks a lot...

I'm not ignoring you, I just have no clue. I'll ask some of the other mods to pitch in their ideas.

Though now that I think of it, you might get more help directly from the Fetchmail folks. Fetchmail is NOT a Zimbra utility, it's a completely independent program. If somebody here can help you, they will (this is a great forum) but we're talking about software that is outside our sphere of responsibility here...
