Exclamation ZCS installation & LDAP

hello,

i have my own external ldap server, and i want to install zimbraCS to use this external ldap server for email accounts or to use only this external ldap server for all services.
i need to use this external ldap, because i have more than 500 account here (posix, samba ...) and i want to use them for zimbra too...

is it possible??

I added zimbra.schema, amavis.schema....i can dump default zimbra ldap to ldif and import it to my external ldap with no error .

but i dont know what else i have to do...

Thanks

You can't do that, you need to install the Zimbra LDAP server and provision the users in that. You can use your current LDAP as an external authentication server once you've provisioned the users in Zimbra.

The Zimbra LDAP is configured to work with Zimbra and is required for configuration & managemnt - you must install the Zimbra LDAP. Feel free to search the forums, this question has been asked and answered before.

so, i am using internal ldap, and in administration i setup external ldap authentication.

Authentication mechanism:
External LDAP
LDAP bind DN template:
LDAP URL: ldap://172.16.4.11:389
LDAP filter: (uid=%u)
LDAP search base: ou=people,dc=sub,dc=domain,dc=com
Use DN/Password to bind to external server: Yes
Bind DN: uid=root,dc=sub,dc=domain,dc=com

and test authentication successful. i tried user adm from external ldap.

what next?
when i try to login as user, eg: adm from external ldap i cannot login.

The username or password is incorrect. Verify that CAPS LOCK is not on, and then retype the current username and password.

Where is problem?
Thanks

I've already said that you need to provision the users in the Zimbra LDAP as well, have you done that?

No, it's not possible to change both at the moment. There's an RFE (or three) in bugzilla relating to external authentication and how Zimbra interacts with it.
