Default broken install on fedora core 4??

Actually everthing seemed to install ok on fedora core 4 however when i tried to stop sendmail with chkconfig sendmail off it gives me errors about command not found later zimbra seems to kill sendmail during install anyway.

When i reboot it seems to take along time and i get a couple of errors about imapd and sendmail shared libraies ssh something something failing on boot up

I am going to try a reinstall of everything because this is my first fedora install (I use FreeBSD normally) and i used a seperate drive for swap something not mentioned in the quick install. Also i am behind a ipf default to deny firewall but can open any ports needed by zimbra most should already be open as i already run a email/imap/squirrellmail/postfix/tls/blah/blah server on my bsd box

I will keep the group updated but expect the same problem on reinstall so any help would be thankfull in other words PLEASE HELP

I read the previous thread about /etc/hosts and mine looks like this

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.100 mx1.canmail.org canmail

I get this doing a zmcontrol status

[root@mx1 rmvg]# su - zimbra [zimbra@mx1 ~]$ zmcontrol status
Calling GetServiceInfoRequest (mx1.canmail.org)

RESPONSE: (Zimbra::Mon::serviceInfo)

Take a look at this post:

Cannot connect to Zimbra after installation

You may have a similar issue. Did you try to run chkconfig after a "su - root" ie was it in your path?

You should be able to do the FC3 install on a FC4 machine, at least I was eventually able to get that to work the other day. Make sure that you have shutdown mysql and that it is not running before you try the install. And it wouldn't hurt to shutdown sendmail too, but I don't think that should matter.

Before installing you might also want to shut off selinux too by editing the /etc/sysconfig/selinux file and setting "SELINUX=permissive". Then reboot.

Good luck,
Sean

Please don't cross post. One post per problem is plenty.
