No, it's not normal. Check the log files and search through the forums for some details on how to fix the problem.

Default Pop3

I have not done that but as Zimbra works as a Mail Server you can try a POP3 access by giving your server in POP3 server and SMTP server and you can keep the default ports if you have not changed them
