Once that is done you will then be able to create users as user@lan.neuestadt.ch. Fingers crossed!
(becausw email-address naming has not much to do with the original installation problem(s), I made a new thread)

Hi

Zimbra should download (not yet decided how) the mails stored in a mbox at our
ISP server(that means in a non-direct delivery environment).
Obviously existing email-addresses (e.g. abc@neuestadt.ch) should still be
working (sending from and to that address) in the new Zimbra evironment

Question:
Does that mean, we cannot anymore send and receive mails with the "official email-address
abc@neuestadt.ch?

Thank you very much for any clarification/help :-)

John

Add neuestadt.ch as a new domain in the Admin GUI, or an alias, and create your account using user@neuestadt.ch. If you want to download emails from your ISP for local delivery then search the forums for fetchmail.

Can the user this way access Zimbra(WebGUI) with just john.miller or is it required to enter john.miller@neuestadt.ch (would that be one of the purposes of Zimbra aliases) ?

Thank's a lot!

John

Yes, go into the Admin GUI -> Domains -> neuestadt.ch -> Virtual Hosts and add in the name of the server you connect too for the web client eg. lan.neuestadt.ch. So when your users go to http[s]:// lan.neuestadt.ch they would only use their name and domain would not be required as you have aliased that virtual host to the other domain name.

Ok i did -> AdminGUI -> Domains -> neuestadt.ch -> Virtual Hosts -> and added "lan.neuestadt.ch".

Surprisingly the user doesen't has to login anymore with with john.miller@lan.neuestadt.ch but instead with john.miller@neuestadt.ch.
That I don't understand yet....

What is the exact URL you use when you connect to the web client ? Change the Virtual Alias to that FQDN (obviously dropping the HTTP[s]), restart ZCS and see if that makes a difference.
