Default mysql not starting, sort of.
I've got an odd problem with the mysql, according to zmcontrol status it's not running (neither is mailboxd but I assume that's because it depends on mysql). But when I try to run mysql.server start is says mysqld is running is safe mode. I also have this in the mysql error logs:

What happens if you shutdown zimbra with:

zmcontrol stop
then kill any remaining zimbra porocesses and then restart zimbra? Are there any errors in the log files?

Is this a new install or an upgrade? Have you disabled SElinux and the firewall on your CentOS server? Please post the output of the following commands (run on your zimbra server):

and your server seems to be called mail.buttonhost.net rather than webhost1.buttonhost.net, you should also note that the host `hostname` command returns the wrong IP address. If the reason for that is that you're behind a firewall or NAT router then you'll need to set-up a Split DNS

webhost1 was just the localhost name assigned by CentOS setup, I didn't think anything really carded about that, just what the DNS records have. I'm not sure what that other address is from or what it points at, that's nothing I have. My zimbra install is not behind a NAT, it's a VM with a bridged interface on the host.

I change my localhost name to mail, and reran host `hostname`

So that seems to be well with the world, although mysql still won't start in anything but safe mode:
