Default HOWTO - Zimbra + Ubuntu with redhat-cluster-suite

Hi everyone,

I have seen a howto for zimbra cluster + red hat cluster suite. It is officially supported by zimbra. At the same time, zimbra officially supports Ubuntu LTS releases. The RedHat cluster suite has been ported to Ubuntu a while back and I was wondering if anyone have managed to create a high availability cluster with Zimbra + Ubuntu (8.04) and RedHat cluster suite? Any tips on how this can achieved?

Thanks

Andrei

Currently there are no plans to test or support this configuration officially, but I know there is at least one site that is running this combination in production. I'd certainly encourage all network customers to run supported configurations.

With all that being said the ZCS installer only offers the zimbra-cluster package for installation on RHEL platforms. Beyond that artificial limitation, I would expect the clustering to work the same on UBUNTU as it does on RHEL4.

Thanks for your reply,

I've tried running ./install.sh --cluster active from the Ubuntu installer, but saw straight away the missing script errors. How big is the cluster installation part of the installer for red hat? Can I simply copy the missing script files from the redhat installer to the Ubuntu installer, or is this matter more complicated? I wish to give it a try and write some notes as I go for it, but I do not want to screw up the system while doing this.

Would this project be feasible for an experienced linux user without the programming skills?

Thanks for your help

Andrei

Well, as Brian has said that is a unsupported configuration so advance at your own risk.
