Default zimbra 6.0b1 not installing on Mac OS X 10.5.6
Hi,

this is the first time I am trying to install Zimbra. I am using the current beta of 6.0. I tried several times, but the installation always breaks at the same point:

Configuration failed

Please address the error and re-run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl to
complete the configuration.

Errors have been logged to /tmp/zmsetup.05082009-084558.log
I ran the install script using sudo. So that shouldn't be a problem.

Did you try running the installer afetr becoming root with:

su -
Do that and try the install again then post what happens.

Isn't running the installer with 'sudo' the same thing? That's what I did.

ok, so I tried the su -

I tried several times to make sure I got the password right. Looks like OS X does not want me to use su. I have admin rights...

Any more thoughts on this problem? I would really like to get started with Zimbra.

funkahdafi,

Mac OS X client(not server) does not have a root account enabled by default. And doing a plain sudo before a command is not the same as running as root because you are still using the logged in users environment. To properly become root in Mac OS X without enabling the root account do...

sudo su -
