Default Zimbra 5.0.14 GA + CentOS5.2 = Kernel Panic & Segmentation Fault

Pretty much as the title says.

The server is a test box I've been running for the past week. I left work yesterday and it was running no problem, came in this morning to to see that I cannot connect to the admin interface, webmail or ping the server. KVMd to find out what's going on and there is a nice kernel panic on the screen. I'm no linux guru but anything that has the word panic in it can't be good.

Gave the machine a reboot, tried to connect again, able to ping it but no webmail or admin interface. SUd to zimbra and tried a zmcontrol status, get Segmentation Fault.

Now I'm at a loss, don't know what the next step would be to fix this problem.

Thanks.

How much RAM do you have in the machine? How much swap? This type of panic is most usually do to a hardware related issue. In my experience, often RAM related.

Should still work. Can you try swapping out the RAM?

Have you done any diagnostics? I.e., use a tool like memtest86 to verify there isn't something wrong with your RAM? In general, these sorts of problems are hardware related. I certainly run a number off different versions of ZCS on one of my lab boxes that is CentOS, without issue.

I haven't had the time to do any tests on the box yet. However we also have done two installs in the field on new Dell servers and no issues with those, hardware anyways. A nice solid system makes everything better. I'll have to do some tests when I'm back in my office then post back here with the results. I'm guessing it's Ram as well.

Thanks.
