Default [SOLVED] Installation - CENTOS

Hi All,

Thank you for this opportunity to participate in this forum!

After contact with ZIMBRA Support Department, I've decided to install the trial Network version in my web server. I'm really looking for a solution for my institution in order to synchronize calendars, migrate from MS-Outlook an other email clients to Zimbra Desktop, create workspaces, shared files, etc.

I hope to fix my problems through this community and share my solutions with all you.

Now my first question:

This is the process I've carried out in my server through SSH way:
  1. 1. I've downloaded tha package RHEL 5.0 useful for CENTOS:
  2. 2. Then, I've unzipped the packages:
    Quote:
    tar xvfz zcs-NETWORK-5.0.15_GA_2851.RHEL5.20090310165728.tgz
  3. 3. Then, I've unzipped the packages:
    Quote:
    tar xvfz zcs-NETWORK-5.0.15_GA_2851.RHEL5.20090310165728.tgz
  4. 4. Then, I've downloaded some dependencies:
    Quote:
    yum install libidn11 curl fetchmail libpcre3 libgmp3c2 libxml2 libstdc++6 openssl perl
  5. 5. I've tried to install it (./install.sh) but I get the following missing file:
    Quote:
    MISSING: /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.5
    I've tried to download and install that packages without successful.

Thus, How I can to fix this problem?

Thank you so much ina advance by your help and support.

Welcome to the forums

Have a read through Platform Specific - Zimbra :: Wiki and that will show you want to install.

One point to note though is that the Network Edition is not officially supported on CentOS! Bug 23487 – Official Support for ZCS Network Edition on CentOS

Hi!... And thank you by your quick reply.

The solution proposed doesn't function in CENTOS. Apparently 'up2date' command doesn't function fine.

However I've installed it through yum:
Quote:
yum install compat-libstdc++-33 arch=x86_64
Unfortunately it doesn't solve the installation, I'm getting the same problem.

Should I assume that is better to run ZIMBRA network version in RHEL environment and not in CENTOS?

Thank you!

If you want a supported environment then definitely YES.

Thank you!

So, Once I migrate a local server to RHEL Linux, I'll install ZIMBRA Network. Is better a supported version.

It does solve the problem, you need to install both i386 (32bit) and x86_64 versions of the compat-libstdc++-33 and compat-libstdc++-296 libraries

As Uxbod mentioned, CentOS is not a supported platform for Zimbra NE. You're fine using CentOS for testing, if you want to do that.

If you are running a 64-bit OS and you need both the 32-bit and 64-bit libraries, then you need to add the 32-bit libraries (arch=i386 or i586 (?)), not the 64-bit libraries which should already be present.

Zimbra works fine on CentOS, because it is an almost exact clone of RHEL. You just have to change a few things in the install file. However, because they can't be bothered to add yet another distro, however similar, to the list of supported distros, you won't get any support.
