Default 5.0.14 much bigger

At least the OSE Ubuntu 8.04 archive.
A bit of digging (untarring it) shows the store .deb is 170MB bigger in 5.0.14 that is was in 5.0.12...

Is this normal ?!

Bug 29373 – add zdesktop to server downloads & Bug 35355 – admin: zdesktop download links in downloads page point to non existent files

While they were previously links (which helps track new installs), stored on the server usually gets it to the user faster. Especially on a LAN, but of course that's debatable over the internet - sometimes S3 would be faster than your server.
As always were completely flexible to what you want - so of course anyone's welcome to file an RFE to change it back to links. (Either way we can track updates so it doesn't matter to us, S3 is cheap, just wanted a better user experience.)

The extra 150mb download won't hurt many admins, and if you fall into the case above simply change the /opt/zimbra/mailboxdwebapps/zimbra/downloads/index.html to point to S3 or zimbra.com/desktop etc. (Same goes if you wish to remove any other connector not wanted on that page.)

Others upcoming:
Bug 25398 – downloads are publicly accessible
Bug 6646 – disable connector downloads globally or by cos
Bug 23304 – Add enduser preferences link to server configuration info/ports and software downloads
Bug 29737 – Downloads index.html needs to look like the zimbra hosted demo verison

The plan is to make the downloads page look nicer & have descriptions as well:
