I was making the assumption earlier that you are running your own DNS server, is that correct? If you're hosting it locally you should be able to set-up BIND to find your servers. If you have your current mail server records hosted on an outside DNS server then you'll need to set-up BIND locally and run a split-DNS system.

The error you poted earlier has this text in it:
    Code:
com.zimbra.cs.service.ServiceException: operation sent to wrong host (you want 'server.com')
which indicates to me that there's a DNS problem.
    Regards

Right, but it says you want "server.com"

But don't I want it to contact "mail.server.com" since zimbra is running on mail.server.com. There is no IP for "server.com" well, there is now, but it points to the web server.

We run an internal DNS server, and that's the config I posted earlier.

The wrong host error is Zimbra saying the mailbox host in LDAP doesn't match the server your logging into. Have you made changes to the domain/servernames after you installed? Have you tried creating a new user and test with that?

Oh, let me also state that if I didn't setup the "server.com" domain, and just kept it all as mail.server.com, and made people login as user@mail.server.com I have NONE of these problems. It's only when I removed the mail.server.com domain from the domains dropdown, and added server.com and created the user accounts to use that domain, and now everything is broken.

    EXACTLY!

    The server is mail.server.com

The domain and the user accounts are for server.com

I want people to go to http://mail.server.com and login as user@server.com and to get and send mail as user@server.com.

I don't want to have to force people to login as user@mail.server.com

This is how most systems are setup. My guess is somehow when you tried to change things something broke. Can you create a new account with your current settings? Then run:

    zmprov ga

This will dump the account attributes.

    Also send the output of:

    zmprov gas

    zimbraMailTransport: lmtp:server.com:7025
    zimbraMailHost: tizor.com

So a couple different hosts there, but neither are defined as a server in zimbra. These attributes should point to mail.server.com

woops, let the cat out of the bag there.. HAH

tizor.com = server.com That was what I was covering up.

How do I change those? I've already added the users.

You can use zmprov to fix them. In general you should have used the admin UI to move the users to the new server. Not sure how you got things in this state but maybe there is an opportunity for us to try and prevent it in the future. Once you get it fixed please file a bug in bugzilla so you can try to add a warning or prevent removing/renaming a server when active users are still on it.
