Did this issue ever get resolved? I am experiencing the EXACT same problem upgrading to 3.1.1 from 3.1.0

I can start slapd, and ldap status shows the current PID. I can also open a connection via telnet localhost 389. Everything was working fine in 3.1.0

No firewall or SELinux. I having this problem with a freshly installed CentOS 4.3. Originally attempted to install 3.1.1, but that did not launch into the config menu or install the boot scripts. So I installed 3.1.0 thinking that 3.1.1 must just be an update and not a full release. When upgrading 3.1.0 to 3.1.1, I get this error. When I try to manually install zimbra-core, I get this error .. like the previous poster.

[root@tomcat packages]# rpm -Uvh zimbra-core-3.1.1_GA_394.RHEL4-20060505121349.i386.rpm

There is no slapd, or any other zimbra related process running since the services get stopped during the install.
