Default Install Zimbra on local network for testing

Hi,

I installed Zimbra on Debian 4 (updated) with no error messages during the installation process. But now I tried to connect from this machine (172.16.0.114) on http give nothing, only Apache2 return a nice "It's alive !"

I don't find any focus on how to install Zimbra on LAN machine. I tried to config my resolve.conf to point on 127.0.0.1 as domain name server to return zimbra.my.domain as 172.16.0.114 but the system overwrite to the DNS by the DHCP server !?

Please how can I install Zimbra on a LAN machine for testing.

Thanks in advance.

Sam.

From what I've read you NEED to have a domain/subdomain resolve to the server. Do you have maybe a test subdomain you could setup for this server?

And for the apache It's alive! do you have another installation of apache on the server besides the one that came with zimbra? Zimbra's apache shouldn't be listening on port 80, jetty should be.

Ok, I have to create a special zone on a local DNS and put this machine on it with perhaps a zimbra.my.domain record, right ?

I had apache2 running at boot, I disabled it but it seems jetty don't start perhaps because wrong name resolution...

Thanks for your help.

Sam.

You'll need a Split DNS set-up, try the instructions here: Split DNS - Zimbra :: Wiki
