Unhappy [SOLVED] Using Lynx text browser with Zimbra mail

Does the text browser lynx work well with Zimbra mail?

I'm being forced to convert from the compact text client mutt
to Zimbra.

Is Zimbra friendly to the blind and those who are mouseless?

Welcome to the forums

You should still be able to access your email using Mutt and POP3/IMAP instead of the the HTML or Ajax client.

Oddly enough, I use lynx all the time.

It won't work with the AJAX client, but It works great with our HTML client.

It's very good with our mobile client.

I thought that might be the case.
The demos before the Great Change, show that you
can only manipulate a few of the email headers in the client
while with mutt, search, change and so was in the 10s of thousands.

Lynx wouldn't work with Yahoo mail until I found the
clue called emacskeys options as in

lynx -emacskeys mail.yahoo.com

So maybe that might solve the AJAX dilemma.

How can people write software without a text option for
the blind?

I use the Blynx option for better "viewing"

No, they say there is going to be a fork and we have to use a Zimbra server
"Currently we are running Zimbra Collaboration Suite version 5.09."

I'm not sure the "newimap.domain.name" will work with the present mutt client after the Great Change.

I'll try it out, and fall back on Lynx if it doesn't work. They used to use webmail which I try not to use with its extensive limits on mail handling.

Before mutt, we had elm as a mail client, with the pine as another option. We prefer text options, rodentless.

Never try webmail from a popserver in a foreign country where the datarate is 28 kbaud. Oy!

Smile Lynx text browser with Zimbra mail works!. And mutt barks!

Ok, Lynx works, even in the Blynx (blind lynx) version.

To make it look better, I have to change the defaults (HTML) view,
and drop the show text of message in header display.
I was shocked!! to see spelling mistakes in the on-line Preferences
set up. [ Diplay instead of Display, color instead of colour ]

Odd that d or delete a message brings up the message list again rather than just move to next message.

But better than that I can go back to mutt, the elm successor and great email client.

> set spoolfile="imaps://imappilot.domainname.com/"
> set timeout=120
> set imap_keepalive=240

And it works!! Mutt barks!

Great.

In this system there is a (dot)mutt directory in the root
and in the .mutt directory is the muttrc file, filled mostly with
"ignore header" commands, a few aliases, and such things as view any
HTML mail with Lynx, etc.

I'm very happy. I can use mutt, or lynx or some other browser to wander around my mail.

Mutt is what I want and my fingers know all the key commands.
